Coaching Programme

Certificate

The United Kingdom All Styles Karate Organisation operates it's own coaching programme together with the United Kingdom Martial Arts Federation, and does so in pursuit of excellence.  As there is currently no legislation which demands that Martial Arts Instructors must be qualified, the programme is not mandatory but is strongly advised. This is with the advent of an increasing number of local authorities demanding some form of qualification from those who teach contact sports.

Our programme came about as a result of being dissatisfied with the standards required and qualifications offered by some other organisations and governing bodies. As an activity, Martial Arts practice is open to interpretation. Because of this there are many different ideas as to how things should be done. We recognise the need to have best quality instruction in Martial Arts so that participants can learn safely and in an appropriate environment. It is our aim to ensure that member groups and organisations, benefit from the advantages of employing the best in standards of instruction by virtue of our coaching programme. As Martial Artists, we all undertake regular training and assessments for our technical skills and if we are to teach our art, it is only sensible that we apply the same approach to our vocational skills. In doing this, we can ensure maximum safety and enjoyment for our students in their chosen discipline.

The Coach Award Program is a three-tier process, reflecting the need across our association for Assistant Instructors, Instructors and Senior Instructors to have help and guidance in honing their knowledge and skills when operating or helping to run Martial Arts Schools, and to ensure that our instructors are operating in a safe, professional manner. In doing this, we are able to create a forum for an exchange of ideas, leading to greater understanding. It is our experience that those who choose to join the scheme experience a greater degree of success in their chosen activity.
